Porter Tyler Baty
Our little boy is finally here!! He was born on Thursday, October 8th at 3:07 pm. He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz. and was 20 inches long. KristaLyn is doing great and so is Porter. McKenzie is excited to have a baby brother and is very good with him so far. The delivery went great. The only problem was when we got to the hospital. Porter had been head down the whole time, and when we checked that morning he decided to be breach. KristaLyn's doctor is very good though and was able to turn him. Otherwise she would have had to have a C-section. Thanks to all who have come to visit and especially thanks to our families for helping us out so much!! Here are some pics

What's that smell
Football is here!!!! Finally, what a great time of year that is now upon us. Not only is baseball season approaching the playoffs--(Yankees having an awesome year so far)--but football season is finally starting. Tonight opens up College football with the most important game being Utah vs. Utah St. of course. Here's hoping for another great year for the UTES!!!
I guess it has been a while since I have posted anything on here. Not too much going on with us right now. Oh wait, we are having another baby in about a month!! Yikes, I can't even keep track of the one we have. Good thing KristaLyn is SuperMom, not sure what we would do without her. So while KristaLyn and McKenzie enjoy doing girly things, I will soon have my boy to watch football and baseball with. We can't wait to see the new addition to our family.

McKenzie is 2 years old!!!
Our little girl is now 2 years old and we can't believe it. She is growing up so fast. We love her so much!! She is such a little talker and picks up just about everything we say. For her birthday we decided to take a family vacation to Disneyland. We had a blast!! McKenzie loved seeing all the Mickey Mouse characters. She enjoyed most of the rides that she was able to go on. Everytime we would see a character, she would say, "I want to go give them kisses." She definitely blew them many kisses. Here are some pics of Disneyland and one of her eating birthday cake.

First time on an airplane--she did great!!

Company Party
Well my work had it's annual Schiff party at Lagoon last week. As usual it was a pretty fun day. In the morning, there is a golf tournament in which my dad, me, and my two brothers participated in. We played at Bountiful Ridge this year. It's always a lot of fun and you usually win some sort of prize in the raffle. This year I won a nice white golf shirt while Cole and Trevor both won new golf bags. However, I also won a $50 gift certificate to the clubhouse for winning "closest to the pin," on the par 3, #14 hole. It did rain pretty hard for 3 or 4 holes, but we still had a lot of fun.

After golf, the party moves to Lagoon. I was excited for it this year because McKenzie would be able to go on some rides. Of course I found a way to get on some rides as well since the lines were so short because of the rainy weather. McKenzie had a blast on some of the rides. She loved the cars, boats, train, and some other ride that you get to shoot a gun on. She did not like; "Puff the magic dragon," "Kontiki," or Bulgy the Whale. Here are a couple pics of her on the boats. Mom and Dad forgot the camera so we had to rely on a couple other people for photos. I will post some more pics once I get them from Brooke/Cole. These pics are from a lady I work with. her little boy was nice enough to ride with McKenzie.

We've created a monster!!
McKenzie is growing up too fast and learning too much. Every day she says something new, and we wonder how she remembers some of the things she says. She observes everything and is always asking "What are you doing," or "What's that." Well she is also getting to the terrible 2 stage with tantrums a plenty!!! The hard part about tantrums with (almost) 2 year olds is figuring out a good punishment. Times have changed and things that worked when we were younger are out of the question now, such as: a good old fashioned spanking, wooden spoons, spatulas, belts, plastic bats, soap in the mouth, etc...You get the idea and have probably had some of these tactics used on you at one point in your childhood.
Our strategy is to go with the "timeout" rule. We have made a little spot in our hallway as the designated "timeout" spot. Since she is only 2, we only keep her there for a couple minutes. Anyway, it seems to be working and she definitely knows what "timeout" is and that she doesn't want to be there. She is starting to figure out that she is put there for doing something naughty, (where at first she thought it was a fun place to be). Since the institution of timeout, our little monster has put the following people in timeout: Mickey Mouse (stuffed animal), Lily (purple stuffed dog from IHOP), Kiki (little doll of hers), Marshmallow (a fake, invisible kitty), and two of her spoons (they were fighting with each other apparently).
Last night, I (J.T.) was laying on the floor as Kenz buried me with pillows and jumped on me. For the most part it was fun (minus the elbows and feet to the face). I grabbed one of the pillows and tossed it to her. She doesn't know how to catch yet so the pillow hit her. Kenz the timeout monster comes out as she says, "Daddy, we need to have a talk." "You hit me, and that's naughty, you need to go to timeout." She then took me by the finger and led me to the timeout spot. I just can't believe how much she remembers. KristaLyn and I laughed about it all night. We love our little girl, but man are we terrified of this terrible 2 stage.

Daddy-Daughter Day
I just want to say that I love my little girl. She is so much fun! Today I was able to take the day off of work and spend it with McKenzie. I have tried doing this in the past, yet I always end up sick, or she ends up sick, or it's just bad weather. Well today I finally had some good weather and we are both healthy. It has been so much fun just spending the day with her. This morning we went to the zoo. She was so cute and loved any animal that looked like a "kitty," which included all of the monkeys. She also told the bears, elephants, and penguins to go play in the water; unfortunately they did not listen. I wish I could have taken more pics, but it wasn't very easy because she wouldn't stand still for very long. Here are a couple pics of the zoo, as well as the Bee's game we went to last night which was also a lot of fun. McKenzie just keeps getting cuter!!

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the mother's out there, especially our mothers. We love you so much! A mother is the most important job you will ever have. Knowing that you have a mother that loves you is such a nice feeling of comfort. It's amazing to think of how much each mom sacrifices for their children. As husbands, father's, and sons, we appreciate all you do. You keep each family running smoothly. Thank you!
